Vol. 54: San-San Numazu Ambassador

For the 22nd term I have been appointed San-San Numazu Ambassador from Numazu City.

The Japan Art Festival in Numazu at the Numazu Imperial Villa Memorial Park started in 1994. Sogetsu have created the bamboo stage every year for the festival in collaboration with the members of the local Shizuoka Branch. Numazu also gives me a nostalgic feeling because when I was in elementary school, I visited to participate in a seaside summer school and swam in the sea.

I received my certificate directly from Mr. Hiroyasu Kurihara, Mayor of Numazu.

Numazu City is now conducting a campaign called “Eat Sushi at a Sushi Bar Counter in Numazu” based on the idea of Mayor Kurihara.
Hoping you will enjoy the delicious sushi from fresh seafood landed in Numazu, set-price courses of chefs’ choices are available at counters in cooperation with local sushi restaurants.

At present, 22 sushi bars in Numazu are participating in this campaign. Isn’t it fun to compare the various sushi shops without worrying about the price?

Mr. Yamamoto is the chef of Sasuyo Tei, where we ate our lunch. His recommendation now is raw whitebait. (It was so delicious!)

Around the port, there are a lot of seafood shops.

Yummy-looking dried horse-mackerel!

We also went to the Byuo Observatory/Floodgate.

If it had been a fine day, we could have seen Mt. Fuji, but the sky was cloudy worse luck.

Once we came down from the observatory, large drops of rain started to fall.
Numazu has the ocean, mountains, and exquisite food. I definitely would like to visit again on a fine day!
