Vol. 55: Sogetsu Ikebana Exhibition "Words into Flowers"

Today, the Sogetsu Ikebana Exhibition “Words into Flowers” started at the Shinjuku Takashimaya Department Store!

Last year the exhibition in Shinjuku was skipped because of the exhibition in Osaka. That’s why all the exhibitors participating in the preparation had two year’s worth of high motivation.

This time the theme chosen was words and colors. 11 words or phrases and colors inspired by those words will be expressed by the sensitivity of each participating ikebana artist.

For the past one to two years I am consistently using ceramic containers that I created myself.

First of all, the framework is made with deadwood called shari in Japanese.

“Niri” wood from the South Seas are arranged on top of the shari

Dip the full moon maple into whisky to sufficiently absorb water.

Puffy-fluffy smoke tree. The reddish color is very beautiful.

Clematis with refreshingly cool colors.

I am going to finish the work while checking the balance of line, color and mass.

I selected the words from Kadensho written by Sofu Teshigahara.

This is my ikebana work with which I intend to talk to the hearts of all the visitors.

The sherbet-color installation is displayed at the front entrance stage on the second floor

Things that we can express “now” after going through various experiences.
Things that we want to express because “now” is the time.

Starting from encounters of words, colors and flowers, this exhibition is fully bloomed with numerous feelings and thoughts piled up.

We are really looking forward to seeing your enthusiasm at the venue.
