On March 11th, "Commemoration Festival" was held at Ryogoku Kokugikan to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Sogetsu School with an audience of approximately 6,000 people. The commendation ceremony and Ikebana Performance by Iemoto Akane Teshigahara co-ordinated with dance, music and gospel singers took place.

The first solo exhibition in the role of Iemoto "Ikebana Through My Eyes" was held on March 3-8 at the Nihombashi Takashimaya Department Store, Tokyo.

The 86th Sogetsu Annual Exhibition “Exuberant Feelings” at the Nihombashi Takashimaya Department Store, Tokyo.

Produced the stage of “Shikoku Konpira Hana Butai” at the Kanemaru-za and offered flowers at Konpira-gu in Kagawa prefecture.

Gave an ikebana performance and decorated the venue at the Japan Fashion Fair in Shanghai 2004, China.

Visited Europe for the first time as the Iemoto of Sogetsu School. Gave ikebana demonstrations and workshops at the Sogetsu Frankfurt Branch (Germany) and Geneva Branch (Switzerland) for the 20th Anniversary of both branches.

Arranged flowers in the containers which were displayed in the exhibition “Ruri Iwata: Glass Containers” at the headquarters of Mitsukoshi Department Store in Nihonbashi. Created a stage consisting of bamboo at the Japan Art Festival in Numazu in the Numazu Goyotei Memorial Park.

Gave an ikebana demonstration at the 13th Brighton Talk Salon at the Brighton Hotel in Urayasu. Held the exhibition “Akane Teshigahara: Tsumugu” at IMS Hall in Fukuoka. Gave an ikebana demonstration in the first part of “Mediterranean Symphony” hosted by Chinzanso and Sankei Living News. ( The second part consisted of songs by a soprano, Shinobu Sato, and the third part was a fashion show of Salvatore Ferragamo.)

Participated in the Benelux Rose Convention hosted by the World Convention of Rose Society, and gave an ikebana demonstration and a workshop in Luxembourg. Created an installation at the showroom of Mitsubishi Motor Corp. in Shizuoka. Decorated a Georgio Armani boutique in Tokyo. Created an installation for the campaign of Mitsubishi Motor's ETERNA at the Key West Club in Harajuku. Directed the stage composition for the Ewa Poblocka Chopin Recital (Quest Hall, Harajuku, Tokyo).

Worked in the Public Relations Department of Sogetsu Foundation.

Graduated from Training College of Childhood Education of Kokugakuin University, and worked as a kindergarten teacher for four years.

Born in Tokyo as the second daughter of Hiroshi Teshigahara. Learned ikebana from her aunt Kasumi Teshigahara, the second Iemoto, since her early childhood.
