Akane Junior Class was inaugurated in April, 1989 by Akane Teshigahara (fourth Iemoto) in the hope of giving a chance of experiencing the joy of creation by interacting with and composing plants. The class was started with 8 students, and now there are about 80 students.
The students are 3 to 18 years old with various nationalities, and they enjoy learning together the way to express themselves through ikebana works as an alternative to words.
