Sogetsu Ceramic Kiln

The ceramic kiln, surrounded by a rich natural environment, welcomes anyone or any group who wish to have the creative experience of making ikebana containers at a reasonable price.

“Sogetsu Ceramic Kiln and Hiroshi Teshigahara” by Akane Teshigahara

My father, Hiroshi Teshigahara, opened Sogetsu Ceramic Kiln in 1973.

He was engaged not only in ikebana but also in several fields of creative work including painting, movies, pottery, calligraphy, and landscape gardening. Among them, the world of pottery making, I believe, was truly able to release his inner self.

He was always extremely busy in Tokyo, but during his visits to this studio, he immersed himself in working with clay to make containers, regardless of time.

The memories of Hiroshi are still present in every corner of this studio as he loved this space more than anywhere else.
