On the traditional Japanese calendar, Daikan—the coldest day of the year—has passed, and we now welcome the time when flowering trees begin to bloom beautifully in anticipation of spring.
I expressed this longing for the new season through these flowering trees: Japanese witch hazel and golden-bells.
