For the first time in the Philadelphia Flower Show’s 193 year’s history, the show was held unprecedently outdoors.

Four Sogetsu Study Groups (Brandywine SG, BuxMont SG, Mainline SG, and Southern New Jersey SG)were invited by the Ikebana International Philadelphia Chapter #71 to participate in the bamboo structures exhibition.

New Jerseys SG
"Fireflies in the Grass"
In Japan, the wet and rotting grasses of the rainy season are the habitat of fireflies.
As they fly through the air, their lights create streaking paths represented by the bands of bamboo twisting through the grasses represented by the bamboo poles.
BuxMont SG
"Emerging"
Emerging with renewed strength! Soaring on Wings like Eagles. Up! Up! And Away.
Mainline SG
"Interwoven"
Our habitats, our cultures, our species, our races, our beliefs, our environments.
Our joys and our sorrows, our hopes and our dreams.
Our histories and our futures.
We are all interwoven.
Brandywine SG
"Having a Ball at the Park"
A little pun to describe the fun we hope that everyone is having at The Flower Show as well as around the park grounds with balls of all shapes and sizes such as those depicted in our installation.
