Ikebanist Tamae Eguchi

Tamae Eguchi( Master Instructor of the Sogetsu Headquarters)
Daikan – the coldest day in the Japanese calendar – is a season of flowers and plants, which suggest the arrival of spring a little earlier than anywhere else, for ikebana materials. Among the largest variety of materials available at this time of the year, this time I chose camellias, which have the three ikebana elements of Line, Color and Mass.
Before arranging, the image I had of the work was a large round mass in vivid green upon which red round flowers were scattered in a way that almost looked like they were bursting, with white lines of Japanese white birch running horizontally. In reality, I played with the white lines.
I hope that 2020 will be a year that I am able to live a life enjoyably and absorbed in ikebana!
