Ikebanist Shu Shioda

Shu Shioda( Instructor of the Sogetsu )
Hoping to express presence and affluence in my creation, I went to the park next to the Sogetsu Kaikan to observe gigantic trees, such as the Cinnamomum camphora and Celtis sinensis, before beginning ikekomi (arranging). Due to that influence, the center of this piece of work became a rectangular mass of plants. In order to further add some movement, the bull bay was extended out to the right.

*For previously displayed works, please visit the Japanese Room Gallery.
