On March 15-28th 2021, Sogetsu Vancouver Branch completed an exhibition of Sogetsu-only Ikebana at the Federation of Canadian Artists Gallery (FCA) in Vancouver.

To our honour, the FCA gallery has extended this invitation to Sogetsu Vancouver Branch for the past 4 years. It is called “Bloom”, and is in collaboration with floral art shown by Canadian Artists and Sogetsu Ikebana.

Bloom is a 2-week exhibition.  We divided our participants into 2 groups.
Week #1 and Week #2 to insure freshness of the Ikebana.  There were 20 members (10 persons in each group) who exhibited in the gallery.

This was our first “real” Ikebana exhibition in over 1 year!  We were very excited to prepare Ikebana for the public after such a long absence.

We hope you will enjoy  an  impromptu video which recorded the exhibition with commentary for both weeks.
As “Bloom” was a true exhibition in a venue (& not virtual!) for the public, we  thought that even a non-professional video offered a more true view of the Ikebana rather than posting still photographs as a virtual show.

The exhibition was such a welcome respite from the news and the world around us at the moment. The gallery became a little spot of solace for attendees searching for beauty and normality, and it certainly was for all our Sogetsu members who have missed our showings for the public.
