In the Japanese room on the fifth floor of the Sogetsu Kaikan, seasonal ikebana works are constantly on display for public view.

The expressive power of flowers shifts through subtle nuances of color in line with the changing seasons.
For this arrangement, I used green leaves as a base, hoping that the varying shades of the foliage and blossoms will evoke a sense of midsummer coolness.
When thinking of summer flowers, people often imagine vibrant yellows and oranges, such as sunflowers and marigolds. However, because their vase life is relatively short, I made the choice to use dancinglady orchids instead.
In ikebana, interpreting the expression of an arrangement—for both the creator and the viewer—can be a complex challenge.
I selected a vase by Iemoto Hiroshi to perfectly complement this arrangement.
