Mother’s Day Creative Ikebana Workshop

On May 7, 2026, the Taiwan Sogetsu Soxiu Branch held the “Flowers for Mom” Mother’s Day Creative Ikebana Workshop for sixth-grade students at Ankang Elementary School. More than 30 students, parents, and volunteers participated in the event, celebrating both Mother’s Day and the 100th anniversary of the Sogetsu School of Ikebana.

Based on the Sogetsu philosophy that “Anything can become ikebana,” participants created arrangements using recyclable coffee paper cups as containers, together with carnations, foliage, and other plant materials. Through the workshop, the children discovered the joy of expressing their creativity with everyday materials.

The demonstration was led by Wang Yuan, while Sogetsu teachers provided individual guidance throughout the workshop. The event offered not only an opportunity to enjoy ikebana but also to experience creativity, environmental awareness, and gratitude.

At the end of the workshop, the students proudly displayed their unique floral creations, making the event a memorable celebration of flowers, imagination, and appreciation.
