Tankin in Japanese is a metalworking technique in which a single sheet of metal is hand-battered and hammer-raised to create various forms. lo Koichi, a finalist for the LOEWE Foundation Craft Prize 2019, pursues his own unique expression by adding his personal interpretation and value to this 4,000-year-old craft. The lemoto’s encounter with the young artist’s containers created a new landscape in the world of Tankin.
